E-commerce with Shopware 6

Franz Mensch, a leading supplier of hygiene, occupational safety and packaging products, has completely revamped its online store. In collaboration with the e-commerce agency scope01, the online store has been modernized and optimized to meet the increasing demands of e-commerce and provide customers with an optimal shopping experience.

Initial situation

Franz Mensch has been active in e-commerce for many years, and the online store has become one of the most important sales channels for the company. The previous store had been based on Shopware 5 since 2018, and the Pimcore PIM interface from scope01 was already being used to manage the product data. In order to remain competitive in a highly competitive market, Franz Mensch decided to comprehensively relaunch the online store with Shopware 6. In this context, not only the visual and technical basis was to be renewed, but also the range and options for B2B customers in the online store were to be significantly expanded. In addition, the further automation of processes is a strategic goal of the company that needs to be implemented.

Our task

Our task was to develop a holistic approach for the redesign of the Franz Mensch online store. This included the conception, design, technical implementation, migration to Shopware 6, integration of Pimcore, optimization of B2B functions and the implementation of a variety of functions in the frontend and backend. We want to create a first-class shopping experience for customers and increase the efficiency of internal processes at the same time.

Implementation

The project was implemented in several steps, with each step being tailored to the specific requirements of Franz Mensch:

  1. Comprehensive concept and design development: The project began with thorough planning and the development of an individual design for the online store.
  2. System update: Migration of the existing store to Shopware 6 and integration of Pimcore for seamless product data management. The Pimcore PIM interface for Shopware 6 from scope01 is used until the new online store goes live in parallel operation to supply both the old and the new store with product data.
  3. Expansion of the information: Launch of the store in German and English and creation of a large number of landing pages, for example on individual brands or industries
  4. Expansion of the B2B functions: Use of the Shopware B2B Suite as a basis with expansion of the quotation function, integration of minimum quantity surcharges and neutral direct delivery, download of individual price lists, invoices and delivery bills, integration of explanatory videos, permanent login and display of customer-specific contact persons.
  5. Improvement of the product detail pages: Integration of complex pricing logic with graduated prices, multidimensional variants, dynamic generation of data sheets and declarations of conformity as well as the introduction of standards and cross-selling products
  6. Checkout optimizations: Extension of the request for quotation, limitation of items at shopping cart level and the integration of new functions such as neutral direct deliveries and minimum quantity surcharges.
  7. Backend optimizations: Implementation of functions such as automation of SEO measures, handling of shopping cart abandonment, backend orders for customer service and sales of Franz Mensch (login as customer), extension of the tables in the Shopware backend with additional information
  8. Integration of interfaces: Connection to various external systems, including ERP system RS2, Crefo (automatic registration), Doofinder (search), Criteo (commerce marketing), Inxmail (e-mail marketing and marketing automation) and the Pimcore PIM interface from scope01
