Our customer Gardeur has launched a new online store in the Netherlands at https://gardeur.com/nl. This is based on a new sales channel in Shopware 6. With this technology, Shopware allows different channels to be managed in a single store system. With the new Shopware version 6, sales channels are the link between administration in the backend and the respective storefronts.
Sales channel as the basis for multichannel
This multichannel approach allows different channels to be served, for example:
- Social shopping for Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest
- Comparison sites like billiger.de or Google Shopping
- Marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, or Zalando for fashion
- Multiple online shops, for example, for different product or price segments, industries, or target groups.
If several online stores are managed via the individual sales channels, these can also have different layouts. This allows you to address different target groups with the right look and feel. The domain for every channel can also be customized.
In addition, a variety of typical settings can be customized for each channel:
- Navigation structures, in particular main, service, and footer navigation
- Customer groups, allowing customers to be assigned to different customer groups per sales channel.
- Countries and languages in which the channel should be available
- Payment and shipping methods, currencies, and tax calculation
- Products can also be assigned individually per sales channel. This makes it easy to display different product ranges.
Shopware makes it possible to bind customers to a channel. This means that customers must re-register for different sales channels. However, with a cross-channel setting, customers can also shop in different channels with a single login. The setting you choose depends on your specific requirements.
Our customer Gardeur opted for separate sales channels due to the different product ranges in Germany and the Netherlands. Gardeur has already gained successful experience with the establishment of other integrated sales channels:
- Premium online shop g1920 for luxury men’s trousers at https://g1920.com/
- Brickfox for connecting multiple marketplaces in the fashion sector
- Google Shopping
- Meta Commerce (Facebook)
Gardeur is a clothing company founded in 1920 and based in Mönchengladbach, Germany. It specializes in trousers. Its products are sold by 2,700 department stores, chain stores, mail order companies, and specialist retailers in 41 countries. Since December 2018, Atelier Gardeur GmbH has been part of the Dutch Duijndam Group.
